This testimony is written to give proof that these words of Psalm 46 are demonstrably true today (verse 1): "God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble."

About three years ago, as I was walking to work one day, I encountered on the secluded path which I usually followed a group of young boys who were obviously up to no good. As I approached they began to address obscene remarks to me and to indicate they would do me harm.

My initial thought was not to retreat, even if that had been possible, but to prove God's presence. As a Christian Scientist, I said quietly to myself, "God is Love."
