Are We like Peter?
"Each of us has frequent opportunities to acknowledge Christian Science and its benefits"
At the Last Supper, before the crucifixion, Jesus warned his disciples (Matt. 26:31), "All ye shall be offended because of me this night." The impulsive Peter indignantly denied this, saying that if all men should "be offended," or should desert him, he himself would not. Jesus replied that before the cock crowed in the morning Peter would deny him thrice. The record continues that after Jesus' arrest Peter followed him to the palace. There he was identified as one of Jesus' disciples, and three times he denied either knowing the Master or being one of his disciples. At the third denial the cock crew, and Peter realized that he had done what he had sworn not to do. He had denied his Master.
