I am sincerely grateful for the benefits which Christian Science has brought into my life. In early boyhood I remember receiving constant visits from the doctor for tonsillitis and so-called children's diseases; but then my parents became interested in Science, and I was enrolled in the Sunday School. We began to rely on Science for healing, and my health improved. I owe a great deal to the patience and love of the teachers in the Sunday Schools I attended.
While at college I became ill, and since I was underage a doctor was called in to examine me in accordance with the law. As a result of his diagnosis, an operation was performed. I made a good recovery, and the study of Christian Science was continued; but I had to prove later that a surgical operation does not solve a problem, nor can it hinder one's progress.
Membership in The Mother Church and a branch church followed. Much was learned from the example of fellow members and from fulfilling various church duties. Class instruction helped to strengthen understanding and proved a protection against misleading theories.
