Present That Living Water
A librarian is custodian of the Christlike atmosphere of a Christian Science Reading Room. His thought, demeanor, and attitude have much to do with the healing atmosphere of the room.
In preparation for better service in the Reading Room, a librarian called her staff together to share ideas in support of the activity. Prior to the meeting she had invited them to ponder what qualities they would expect to see expressed and to share instances in which they had been helped, inspired, or healed through study in a Reading Room.
This meeting was followed by increased sales activity. "But, best of all," the librarian writes, "the Reading Room is continuing to attract those hungering and thirsting for the healing truth. The sick, the sorrowing, the frustrated, the fearful, the blind, have been some of those who have come and found spiritual refreshment and healing. It is the sincere desire of those serving that the needy shall not go away without comfort. In the words of our Leader (Miscellany, p. 182), 'May the wanderer in the wilderness of mortal beliefs and fears turn hither with satisfied hope.'"
