Sanctification and Healing
Mrs. Eddy writes on page 492 of the textbook, Science and Health: "Being is holiness, harmony, immortality. It is already proved that a knowledge of this, even in small degree, will uplift the physical and moral standard of mortals, will increase longevity, will purify and elevate character." This purification of character represents a process of sanctification in which all must eventually engage and which must take precedence over all merely material demands, however legitimate they seem.
Christ Jesus declared (Matt. 5:6), "Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled." Jesus continued in righteousness right up to his ascension. We too shall be blessed if we continue in his words. Truth and Love unfold as we advance, and so should our striving after complete sanctification. In a not disparate connection William Blake wrote in one of his poems,
