After my marriage, while earnestly...
After my marriage, while earnestly searching for a God whom I could understand, I was led to Christian Science and knew almost with the reading of the first chapter of the textbook by Mrs. Eddy that I had found the answer to my prayers. Many problems have come to me since, some of which have been and others are being solved step by step through this blessed religion.
One experience which I should especially like to relate is the healing of an illness, the symptoms of which made me very fearful. One hymn from the Christian Science Hymnal which I found very helpful at this time was No. 51, beginning, "Eternal Mind the Potter is." I would repeat it over and over aloud to myself, pondering its meaning.
One day I felt as though I were passing away. The one distinct thought that came to me at that time was this: "No, you must not succumb to death, because you are needed here to rear your little son, and also your husband needs you." My husband was serving in Germany at the time in the Canadian Army.
