It is said that "man's extremity...
It is said that "man's extremity is God's opportunity," and this was proved true in my experience shortly after I became an earnest student of Christian Science.
While hiking with a group in the mountains, I found myself alone at the base of a crest which towered over the surrounding area. I decided to attempt it. As I climbed, vast panoramas and great depths lay around me.
Suddenly I was seized with severe pain in my left leg. I immediately began to repeat aloud "the scientific statement of being," which is found on page 468 of Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy and which begins, "There is no life, truth, intelligence, nor substance in matter." But I stopped upon realizing that even while I was saying the words my thought was numb with fear and pain.
