In Ecclesiastes we read (3:14),...

In Ecclesiastes we read (3:14), "I know that, whatsoever God doeth, it shall be for ever." This text brings to mind my first healing in Christian Science. Over twenty years ago, while serving as organist in a Christian Science church, I was healed of a kidney infection. At that time I was not a student of Science. The first attack I had was so severe that it was necessary for me to be in bed and under medical care for more than two weeks before I was able to be at my work as a music teacher, housewife, and mother.

Approximately three months later the same condition suddenly returned in a very severe form one Sunday morning, too late for me to ask for a substitute at the organ. I managed to walk to church, but I wondered how I could possibly get through the service. As I entered the foyer, a practitioner was standing near.

I asked to talk to her in another room, told her the difficulty, and asked if she could help me. She assured me that she would and that I need experience no difficulty in playing for the service, since it was work for God and divinely supported. As the service progressed, the illness lessened; by the end of the hour I was nearly free. The next morning no trace of the trouble was apparent. This condition has never returned during these many years.
