From early childhood I have read the testimonies of healing in the periodicals and received from them encouragement and an increased assurance that God does heal all our diseases. In our home three generations of the family have relied entirely on Christian Science to meet their every need. The needs of each generation are different, but the truth that unfailingly supplies each one's daily demands is constant.

When quite small, my elder daughter became very ill and for several days grew no better. One night, after sitting fearfully by her bed for some time, I went downstairs to try and find some release from intense fear. I picked up the Bible and opened to the story of Abraham and Isaac in the twenty-second chapter of Genesis. Abraham's willingness to take his only child to sacrifice had real meaning to me that night.

I suddenly realized that God never required Abraham to sacrifice his child and that it was only Abraham's limited concept of God that made him feel this was necessary. But I did realize we had to be willing to put our children in God's hands as trustfully as Abraham did. And the assurance that God would take care of my little one, as He had taken care of Isaac, put my fear to rest. Needless to say, the next morning the child was better and soon was perfectly well.
