PATIENCE FROM "THE GOD OF PATIENCE"
Romans 15:5
Patience
from God is positive,
sure as of spring's returning that divine
Love wins; not a mere negative
holding of the line.
This patience is a grace
that stays steadfast,
that keeps safe the heart's peace.
It can outlast
discouragement and efforts to tear
down what has been built. Patience
can take up and bear
loads without strain, not being tense,
but tough and resilient,
like a young, green sapling.
Like a night-blooming plant,
sweet patience can bring
solace to the dark hours before morning.
This patience waits; knows a bud needs
to grow in its own way; does not peel open
petals, disturb germinating seeds,
or fret with anxiety when
no questing shoot appears above
earth. Knowing roots must first grow deep,
patience rests in God's love
trustingly as children sleep.
Patience is countdown to high
purpose; persistence poised for victory.
