The accounts of healing in The Christian Science Journal and the Christian Science Sentinel have blessed me for so long that I am impelled to share an experience that taught me a valuable lesson. These testimonies in the periodicals indicate the signs following that Jesus implied when he said (John 14:12), "Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father."

During the Second World War, I was stationed in India and China as a bombardier and navigator on a bomber. During a year of this activity several students of Christian Science frequently met informally to hold church services on the base. The protection experienced by my crew was outstanding although, to human sense, we were in perilous circumstances many times.

At the end of twelve months the crew was rotated back to the United States for rest and reassignment. Since there was a shortage of technicians of my classification, I was kept on to fly with other crews. From many sides superstitious feeling was expressed that the odds were very much against one under such circumstances, but I continued to maintain mentally the sure protection of God's presence.
