Safe in the Christ
"Christ, the spiritual idea of sonship, is at hand within one's own consciousness"
"Before Abraham was, I am" (John 8:58). When Jesus said this to his opponents, he was referring to the ever-presence of the Christ, which he exemplified. The people evidently thought he was referring to his human selfhood, for the record continues, "Then took they up stones to cast at him: but Jesus hid himself, and went out of the temple, going through the midst of them, and so passed by."
