When I first heard of Christian Science...
When I first heard of Christian Science I sought the services of a practitioner for the healing of a very painful abscess in my mouth. I visited her one evening and received my first explanations of the nature and operation of Science. I returned home with her promise to give me treatment through prayer the same evening, and when I went to bed I fell peacefully asleep. The next morning every sign of the abscess had disappeared. I was able to eat my breakfast just as though nothing abnormal had ever been in my mouth.
A few days before this healing occurred, a dentist, a friend of mine, had told me that nothing could be done to prevent the abscess from taking its full course. Yet that did not happen; there was no discharge.
This experience convinced me that the Christ-healing of Jesus' day had reappeared in our age. I immediately bought a copy of the Christian Science textbook by Mrs. Eddy. Every moment of my spare time I spent reading this wonderful book. I read late into the night and often into the early hours of the morning. I could not leave it for I knew that I had found divine Truth in its pages.
