A Matter of Fact

"Whatever from evil takes, it is unreal, not fact,
since God is the only power"

The phrase "a matter of fact" is sometimes the preface to remarks that may not be fact even when the word "fact" is used as meaning evidence that appears real to the senses. During a period of activity as court reporter the writer noted the repeated use of this phrase in the effort to obtain truthful testimony from witnesses. He found his thought turning often to the actual facts of existence, to what is really a matter of fact as taught in Christian Science, discovered and founded by Mary Baker Eddy.
