Three or four years ago I made a trip to New York City for the purpose of attending an equipment show in which my company was participating. We had a large booth where we displayed our equipment, and I was to be in attendance at the booth for the purpose of explaining our product to engineers and others who came by. On the evening before the show started, I noticed that I had a sty on one of my eyes. My first thought was of my appearance and then of the number of people I had to meet the next day.

Then I realized that man is really the spiritual image and likeness of his Maker and that as God's image he can express or manifest only qualities of God. I knew that perfection is man's natural state and that there is no power other than God, since God is omnipotent.

The next morning the sty was still there, but I insisted vigorously that as the image of God I could manifest only His qualities. Once during the day a man entered the booth who also appeared to have a sty, but I immediately denounced sties as untrue and held to the truth of man's being. At another time during the day a friend recommended that I see a doctor. At this point I again silently but vigorously declared the truth of my spiritual well-being. I knew the basis of man's well-being to be God's all-power and ever-presence.
