The Librarian
It is a great privilege to be the librarian of a Christian Science Reading Room.
The office of librarian includes a variety of demands. The greatest of these is, perhaps, the healing, impersonal love which a librarian expresses through his understanding of the Christ, Truth, the Rock upon which our Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, founded The Mother Church with all its expansive activities. We read in Science and Health (p. 113): "The vital part, the heart and soul of Christian Science, is Love. Without this, the letter is but the dead body of Science, — pulseless, cold, inanimate."
The successful fulfillment of a Reading Room's mission is largely measured by the unselfed love expressed by the librarian.
