"Precious redemption"

Ezekiel saw something of the redemptive power of Truth in his vision of "the valley which was full of bones" (37:1). And the Lord said to him: "Prophesy upon these bones, and say unto them, O ye dry bones, hear the word of the Lord. ... Behold, I will cause breath to enter into you, and ye shall live."

When the bones in Ezekiel's vision had come to life with flesh and breath as men, the Lord spoke again: "Son of man, these bones are the whole house of Israel: behold, they say, Our bones are dried, and our hope is lost. ... Therefore prophesy and say unto them, ... I will open your graves, and cause you to come up out of your graves, and bring you into the land of Israel."

As we look about us, it may appear that the world is full of mortals, the majority lacking spiritual motivation, lacking spirit, limited in vitality and usefulness. But as the human being gains the consciousness of Truth, as taught in Christian Science, he learns that a mortal is not the child of God, is not in reality man at all, but an illusion, a false mortal belief of life in matter. As he comes to understand the real man as the image and likeness of Life and Love, he recognizes the material concept as false, and sees in its place the useful, purposeful, spirited idea of divine Mind.
