When a child, I had the privilege of being a pupil in a Christian Science Sunday School, and Science has been a constant help and guide ever since, "a light unto my path" (Ps. 119:105). When I was a young married woman, a severe problem had to be faced which, according to mortal mind, was going to ruin life and health for me. However, I saw that the only way out was to "cast the net on the right side" (John 21:6), to turn to God, Spirit, with all my heart. I began the study of Christian Science in earnest. The way was not an easy one, but the healing was finally complete.

While living in Java, Indonesia, I was for some time not feeling well and became rather ill-looking. I did not do any mental work for this condition until one morning I got frightened while looking at my face in the mirror. Immediately I sat down and began to work for myself as we are taught in Christian Science. When realizing that man is the reflection of God, a ray, as it were, of divine Light, and understanding myself thus, a radiant, glorious raw I was instantaneously healed. When my husband came home, he at once noticed the change and said: '"How well you are looking! You seem like another woman."

At another time I had a serious throat infection. In a couple of days the condition became very alarming. I could not swallow at all, and the pain was unbearable. One night my husband, not being a Christian Scientist, got so frightened that he just rushed out of the house to fetch a doctor, who, after having examined my throat, said that he would come back early the next morning to operate upon it.
