My introduction to Christian Science...

My introduction to Christian Science came about in a YMCA but during the First World War in France. I went into the hut to write a letter to my sister, who was living in Minnesota at that time. After finishing my letter, I noticed a Christian Science distribution box with literature in it. I remained in the YMCA but reading The Christian Science Monitor until closing time and gained from this experience a desire for a greater understanding of Christian Science.

After my eventual return to the United States. I met a young woman who later became my wife and who also was a new student of Christian Science. We continued our study of Science, and we gratefully acknowledge unlimited blessings that came to our little family day by day. I could enumerate many wonderful healings, including those of hemorrhoids, influenza, and inflammatory rheumatism, but the one that I wish to relate in more detail is a healing of heart disease.

I worked as a sign painter on ships and buildings in a large western shipyard. One day I collapsed at work and was taken to the shipyard infirmary. The physician was not present, but the nurse who was on duty examined me. The symptoms indicated a heart disease. I requested to be taken home.
