I had the blessed experience of being reared in Christian Science. It was not until I left home to go to college, however, that I really began to apply it for myself. It was a great help to me in preparing for examinations and in solving the everyday problems that confront a college student. Since I was majoring in music, there were many occasions on which I was able to prove freedom from fear in performing. At the same time I learned to speak with ease in front of large audiences.

Among the Bible truths which helped me is this statement of Jesus (John 5:30): "I can of mine own self do nothing." Through these truths, I realized that man reflects the qualities of God: harmony, beauty, activity, joy, and so on. Knowing that God was expressing Himself through me, I knew that there was nothing to fear. It also helped to know that I was giving something to others and that I could not be penalized by fear or mistakes when expressing Love. These freedoms have stayed with me during the years since then.

I am very grateful for the harmonious birth of our son, which took place at a maternity home for Christian Scientists. The work done so effectively by the practitioner who was helping me and b the nurses there, and my own work, upheld me after we returned home.
