The privilege of having class instruction in Christian Science will always be the outstanding event of my experience, for through the unfoldment that took place I was then able to recognize the need to face and overcome errors of thought. One of these, extreme self-consciousness, had been accepted as part of my identity for many years.

During class I perceived more clearly man's spiritual status as a child of God, and this understanding enabled me to accomplish in many ways what I had never thought possible of achievement, especially to appear before the public as I later did while serving as Second Reader in a branch church.

A year prior to taking office as Reader I was healed, through the prayers of my teacher and my own study, of a painful disease that attempted to cripple and incapacitate me. The healing took place when I awakened to God's allness and the nothingness of any other power.
