Giving a Christian Science Lecture
Gathering the Harvest
[This is the last of four addresses given at the meeting in the Extension of The Mother Church on June 5, 1963.]
When one thinks of harvest, he thinks of it as the fruitage which he or another has earned. Harvest is the product or reward of exertion. The harvest of a Christian Science lecture may be thought of as the effect of planting the seed of Truth, our work evidenced in immortal fruits which we would share with the world.
For our right efforts, our earnest work in the Father's vineyard, the Scriptures assign sure spiritual rewards. The prophet Isaiah explicitly declared (32:17, 18): "The work of righteousness shall be peace; and the effect of righteousness quietness and assurance for ever. And my people shall dwell in a peaceable habitation, and in sure dwellings, and in quiet resting places." Here in the infinite plan of God is the harvest of all spiritual endeavor. Herein too is a divine law applicable for our use as workers in the vineyard of Truth.
