RADIO PROGRAM No. 20 - What Shall I Tell My Child About God?

HOST: What were you doing the first time your five-year-old asked you, "What is God?" It's the kind of question that pops up suddenly when a mother's in the middle of making a fancy dessert or a father's on a stepladder painting the ceiling! Too often the answer gets put off until "some other time."

An article in The Reader's Digest some time ago said. "Modern parents seem to feel increasingly perplexed and embarrassed when they have to talk to their children about religion." The article urges parents to take the time and effort to tell their children about God. It says: "A little boy or girl needs his religion now not just when he is grown up. Religion must be grown into; it is a matter of the heart as well as the mind; it should fall into the life of a child as the love of a parent does, easily and naturally."

But how do you get a child to quiet down and think about God?
