Christian Science came into...
Christian Science came into my life when I was a child and my mother took me to a practitioner. My family were not Scientists, but they decided to turn to God when the doctors were baffled by a physical difficulty I had. I was healed, and the practitioner gave me a copy of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy to keep my interest alive in this great religion. There was no Christian Science church near enough for me to attend Sunday School, but Science has been my only religion through the years since.
It was my sustaining influence in college and in travel in a difficult field of humanitarian endeavor and writing. Fortunately, wherever my work took me, there was always a Christian Science church or a society and a Reading Room for study and meditation.
After my marriage, for various reasons, including my husband's early medical training and later on the travel involved in a government position he held, I became less wholehearted in my study and church attendance. However, my husband finally turned without reserve to Christian Science for the healing of a so-called incurable disease. After his healing, we became members of The Mother Church and of a branch church near where we lived.
