Happy Marriage

Mary Baker Eddy wisely counsels us, "Let other people's marriage relations alone" (Miscellaneous Writings, p. 290). This counsel should apply when young people are about to choose a husband or a wife. Such choice becomes dependably wise in the degree that the one making it identifies himself spiritually.

Christian Science teaches that the one Mind is perfect intelligence and that the real man reflects this intelligence. The belief that one does not know how to make a wise choice denies the individual's true identity. The young man or young woman or well-meaning parent indulging in this belief will find that it leads away from right decisions. Thought and action which encourage the individual to find his own relationship to divine intelligence and to exercise that relationship help to deny the error which leads to mistakes.

The only mistake that can be made is to identify oneself as separated from the divine motivating Spirit. The only proper influence to be exerted on anyone is that which throws the light of Truth on the scene, exposing the nothingness of mortal, material motivation and showing the constant attracting power of the one intelligent Spirit, Love.
