It is with a deep sense of humility...
It is with a deep sense of humility and gratitude for Christian Science that I should like to relate the following healings. A considerable time ago, when I was a new student of Science, I became ill with a type of paralysis. My father, who was not a Scientist, became alarmed at my condition because I had declined medical treatment. Therefore although I was studying Science regularly and understanding more and more of the irresistible healing power of Truth, I thought it wise to seek the help of a Christian Science practitioner. This I did, and to the amazement of my father, the condition, which a medical friend had said he believed was incurable, was healed in a little over a week.
At a later date, when engaged in an important tennis match, I sprained an ankle. I had learned in Christian Science how important it is to speedily deny discordant sense testimony. So I straightway declared the material evidence to be a lie, directly opposed to the truth of man. The real man, being God's spiritual image and likeness, cannot possibly meet with an accident. I declared that man ever reflects uninterrupted activity.
Although it was difficult to do so, I kept on the move without delaying the game or attracting comment from the other player or from the spectators, many of whom were sitting close to the court. When I threw the ball up to serve and so continue the game, there was a noticeable sensation in the ankle. It was healed, and I proceeded successfully with the game and also another game to conclude the day's tournament activity on that particular court.
