As a girl in my teens I was sent...
As a girl in my teens I was sent off to school, and it was my privilege to live with a family, the mother of which was a Christian Science practitioner. She explained the truths of God and man to me in such a clear way that I accepted them wholeheartedly and have never swerved from Science. During many years I have been abundantly blessed through the study and application of them. As a result of my efforts to be a good example, three members of my family became students of Science. Two joined The Mother Church and became members of branch churches.
My first serious difficulty after I began to study Science was a skin disease. For a year my thought was filled with the reality and fear of this disease. I called on practitioners several times for help, feeling that my own spiritual understanding was not sufficient to meet the need; but the condition persisted, and I became resentful at its resistance to Truth. Finally I realized that I had been making a reality of it, believing that it was a condition of matter and that the material evidence had to disappear if the healing was to take place.
My study revealed to me that in Science healing takes place first in consciousness and is then manifested on the body. When this light came to me, I began to cast out all unloving and resentful thoughts, and soon the skin condition disappeared.
