Humanity is seeking freedom from fear, lack, sickness—discords of all kinds. Many individuals believe that discord arises from a cause outside themselves over which they have little or no control. The Christian Scientist knows that the reverse is the case, that the circumstances and conditions in which he may find himself are the results of the beliefs that he holds in thought. He knows, however, that he has God-given ability to spiritualize thought and that by so doing he can bring harmony into his experience.
