In deep gratitude for the teachings...
In deep gratitude for the teachings of Christian Science and for its Discoverer and Founder, the Leader of the Christian Science movement, Mrs. Eddy, I submit this testimony of its healing efficacy.
I had been studying Science for less than two years when a lump developed on my body. A very close relative had had medical treatment for cancer, and her experience had filled me with fear of it. Then the medical profession had begun to conduct a campaign against the disease. It seemed that everywhere I looked the name leaped at me, and every time the radio or television was turned on, the subject was brought to my attention. I had allowed myself to be mesmerized by what I heard and saw.
By this time, though, I was convinced that Christian Science is the truth; so I made an appointment with a practitioner. I had learned enough of Science to know that the condition was not merely a physical one; it was a mental state of fear with which I had to deal. However, the latter was so entrenched in my thinking that it seemed as though I could not awaken from its hypnotic effect.
