About twenty years ago as a librarian in a public library it was my duty to place daily The Christian Science Monitor on the newspaper reading rack. I became interested in reading it, including the religious article. At this time I was told by a physician that an operation for appendicitis was a necessity, and a hospital room was engaged. Instead I was led to try Christian Science first.

I called a practitioner for treatment and began to study Christian Science, gradually increasing the time spent in reading Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy. At this period I was not aware of the weekly Bible Lessons, outlined in the Christian Science Quarterly, and the many other avenues provided by our Leader for those seeking a cup of cold water. Several times the condition became aggravated, and much fear had to be met; but through the efforts of the consecrated practitioner the healing was complete.

I began to study Science daily and earnestly and joined The Mother Church and a branch church. When she was five years old, our daughter was hit by a car while on her way to nursery school. The school principal drove me to a hospital where, without my knowledge, she had been taken. The truth that God is her Life was with me as we drove there. I also realized that since God is ever present, our daughter had never left His care and that accidents are unknown in God's perfect, spiritual universe.
