When my mother first heard of...
When my mother first heard of Christian Science she was ill with heart trouble. The doctors told her that if she ever recovered, she would never be able to do anything as strenuous as her everyday household duties or even singing, which she did well and with great joy.
One day a student friend of my brother's brought my mother a copy of Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy and asked her to read it. This she did, and I can still recall the day, soon after, when she arose from her bed, dressed, and went to see a practitioner with whom she had talked over the telephone.
After she received her first Christian Science treatment, my mother was convinced that she had found the truth that makes free. Indeed she had. She was healed and lived many useful, active years, and through her the entire family became students of this healing religion.
