Inspired Teaching Attracts and Holds Older Pupils
[From a teacher in a branch church Sunday School]
In the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," Mary Baker Eddy writes (p. 19), "Jesus aided in reconciling man to God by giving man a truer sense of Love, the divine Principle of Jesus' teachings, and this truer sense of Love redeems man from the law of matter, sin, and death by the law of Spirit,—the law of divine Love."
The purpose of the teaching in the Christian Science Sunday School is to give the pupils a true sense of Love and to teach them not only to use Christian Science, God's law, but to let Christian Science use them. They learn to yield to divine impulsion, to blend their thoughts and lives with the moral and spiritual law of God, that they may increasingly experience the completeness and harmony of true being. It should be made clear to the pupils that their goal is primarily not to obtain certain material and personal benefits for themselves through Christian Science, but to let divine Principle demonstrate itself in their lives.
