RADIO PROGRAM No. 435 - Wake Up and Be Free!
SPEAKER: Have you ever thought how very dependent we are on one another? For instance, on those who furnish our electric light and heat; on the garage that services our car; on the farmer for his produce. We're all dependent on someone for something. However, the wrong kind of dependence can rob us of self-reliance and the ability to develop our own talents. For example, when we let others make all our decisions for us or when we lean on them for what we should be doing ourselves.
But there's one kind of dependence that can never be overdone; that is dependence on God. In fact, the more we rely on God, the more truly self-reliant we become. This was something our guest had to wake up to. I'd like to introduce Mrs. Katherine Whitney, of Cleveland, Ohio. Please tell us a little of the background of this experience, Mis. Whitney.
MRS. WHITNEY: Well, it happened this way—across the street from our home there lived a most loving elderly lady. The teen-agers loved to visit with her on her front porch, and she told me about Christian Science. I became so interested that when I was eighteen and a student in college. I enrolled in a Christian Science Sunday School. It was during this time that I received my first healing through Christian Science.
