God has been very good to me

God has been very good to me. Some twenty years ago I found it necessary to provide for and educate my two children, and at about that time Christian Science was brought to my attention by a friend. After my first visits to a Reading Room and attendance at a Church of Christ, Scientist, I knew I had set foot on the only right path toward a correct understanding of God. Previous to that I had not given serious attention to spiritual things, believing in a rather vague way that I was a Christian because I had intermittently attended various orthodox churches. No problems had arisen in my experience which human thinking and means had not solved.

Through study of and a steady reliance on the teachings in Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy, including her statement (p. 494), "Divine Love always has met and always will meet every human need," financial problems were solved, and step by step the way unfolded for each of the children to finish college. Class instruction increased my appreciation of the necessity of a more thorough study of the Bible and of the textbook and other writings by Mrs. Eddy, our Leader. The sense of protection which blesses all students who are progressing toward a spiritual understanding of God and His tender relationship to man followed my study.

One instance of this protection occurred at the time a station wagon in which I was driving my father home from work skidded on a small patch of ice, left the road, and turned over when it struck a small tree. We were thrown onto the inside of the roof of the car, which now rested on the ground, and we struggled without success to open the windows. I was not panic-stricken; but I kept saying to myself: "God is right here with us. Where God is, there can be no harm."
