When our daughter was nine...

When our daughter was nine months old, she became very ill, and a doctor was called in. I had been reared in Christian Science since I was twelve years old, but my husband is not a Scientist. The doctor called the disease bronchial asthma and said we would have to move to a dry climate if we wished the child to get well. This seemed impossible for us to do.

Fear overtook me for the moment, but then I turned to my husband, who is very loving and understanding, and asked him if I could call in a Christian Science practitioner. He agreed, and when we called her, this dear person came over to see us, because she realized we needed much comforting. She held our baby in her arms and talked with us for quite a while about the truths of God and man, in order to allay our fear. She knew that it was our fear and not the child's that had to be removed.

After a short while we put the baby to bed, and she fell asleep. Gradually her breathing became normal, and when she woke up the following morning, she was completely healed. This took place twenty-one years ago, and there has been no recurrence. Our daughter, now a young woman, has had many fine healings in Christian Science since then, but this is one of the most valued. It proved to my husband that Science heals, and so our daughter grew up with the truth to sustain her.
