"Mental self-knowledge"
The kind of thoughts we think determines the kind of life we live. And, strange as it may seem, we are no more the originators of our thoughts than we are of the food we eat or the air we breathe.
We express thoughts; we do not create them. But we are, from a human standpoint, responsible for them, because there is inherent in each one of us the God-derived ability to accept or reject what is presented to us; and the wisdom we express in choosing our thoughts has a definite effect upon our lives.
There are medical doctors who believe that mental and emotional disturbances contribute to certain diseased conditions of the body. In view of the emphasis that is being placed upon the need of more salutary thinking, it is quite natural that many people turn to Christian Science to learn what it has to offer them.
