Doing All Things Through Christ
To comprehend the Christ is the greatest need of mankind. Paul showed his true comprehension of it when he wrote to his friends at Philippi, "I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me" (Phil. 4:13). Paul could say this because he possessed the Christ, the spirit of Truth, through which alone we are able to do the healing and liberating works demanded by our Master, Christ Jesus.
Theories of Christ convulsed the early Christians for centuries as theologians grappled with concepts beyond their comprehension and attempted through human will to impose upon the young church their hazy notions of the Christ. The spirit of Truth suffered obscuration through conflict of abstract definitions, and the practical healing power of the Christ was lost for ages.
Christian Science clarifies the subject: it not only reveals the various aspects of Christ as God's spiritual idea, but restores the spirit of Truth, which gives Christians strength to obey their Master. That loyal Christian Scientists understand the Christ in some measure is attested by the vast number of healings they have accomplished from the beginning of the Christian Science movement and are accomplishing today.
