Christian Science came to the attention of my mother when I was a young child. She saw a friend healed of crippling rheumatism by its application and was so impressed by his healing that she immediately bought a copy of Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy and studied it. That is the way we became a Christian Science family and have had the privilege of receiving all the benefits which result from the study of it.

I should like to relate one of many healings which I have had and which has meant much to me. I am grateful not only for the healing but for the spiritual progress I made during the many months I waited for it. I can now look back on the experience as a great blessing. I had a very painful ear condition. One night it seemed as if I could endure no more pain. I felt that I was losing all control of myself, and I became very frightened. I was alone in my home, and I could not lie down or sit up in comfort; nor was I able to get in touch with a practitioner on the telephone.

As I sat on my bed the thought came to me to take the Christian Science Hymnal and sing our hymns. I shall always be grateful for the divine inspiration that caused me to do this. Then I lay back and sang one hymn after another, realizing the truth of the inspiring words. I continued singing for some time, and then I found my thought relaxed. All fear had left me, and the pain had ceased. I had not known such peace for many months. I slept peacefully for the balance of the night, and when I awoke I was free, and the healing has been permanent.
