Some thirty years ago I suffered from a skin infection that covered my face and hands. I consulted a physician who was a well-known specialist in skin diseases, and he treated me for months without success. After giving me many treatments, he told me frankly that he did not know a cure, but was trying various remedies in the hope of hitting upon the right one.

Finally, however, the condition began to abate, but it was slow in doing so. When it eventually cleared up, the entire experience had lasted about ten months, during which period the infection had been not only very uncomfortable and unsightly, but detrimental to all my activities.

Several years passed, and then one morning I was startled to see that my face was again covered with the same condition. This time I did not seek medical aid, because I had become interested in Christian Science. I was a member of an orthodox church, although I no longer attended its services. My wife had become a Christian Scientist, and t had been attending Sunday services with her. Also, I had heard one or two lectures and had done some reading in the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy.
