Our Need: Spiritual Discernment
"Divine Love always has met and always will meet every human need." This statement by Mrs. Eddy (Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, p. 494) holds such a precious promise that it is deeply cherished even before its promise is fulfilled.
Christian Scientists accept each statement in Mrs. Eddy's writings to be true. They waste no time, therefore, in questioning the correctness of particular citations merely because the facts conveyed have not been confirmed in their experience. One who may have some needs that are not yet met will be wise if, first of all, he accepts the statement mentioned above as correct. This will place him in a position to see divine Love fulfill its promise.
Do we really believe that divine Love is able to meet our every need? If not, this could have something to do with our unmet needs. It is not a question of the statement's being true. It is our own lack of discernment that is involved. Divine Love is amply able to supply this discernment. We must be willing to accept it.
