Throughout my business career...

Throughout my business career I have been keenly interested in my work; but until recently I had never found a true sense of worthwhileness in it, nor had I found satisfactory conditions. In particular, I always seemed to experience the conditions of being overworked, having an inconsiderate employer, and being irritated by one of my fellow workers.

After a year's study of the Lesson-Sermon from the Christian Science Quarterly and after three months' membership in a branch church, I realized that because every activity in God's creation is perfect, man is always harmoniously employed in expressing God. I realized too that the reason why I had not found congenial employment was that I had allowed myself to be governed by my own will and not by God's will.

My first step was to change my motive for working from that of satisfying my own selfish ambitions to that of blessing others. Secondly, I studied articles in the Christian Science periodicals explaining the true, spiritual nature of man's employment. All these brought out clearly that if one is to gain a sense of right employment, selfish and material thoughts must yield to spiritual concepts.
