Christian Science came into my experience when I was a child. My mother was healed of gallstones by its application, and as a result of her healing I was enrolled in the Christian Science Sunday School, where I enjoyed the privilege of attendance until I was twenty years of age. I value the many things I learned there, and they have been very helpful to me all along the way.

I have had many healings and am grateful to say I have never resorted to the use of medication of any kind. I should like to relate an experience that gave me a clearer understanding of God's ever-presence and of His protecting power.

Early one morning, while I was on vacation, I was standing near the edge of a deep lake when my foot slipped, and I fell into the water. A considerable amount of water flowed into my lungs, and I began to sink. A fear of drowning came over me. At that moment, this part of the twenty-third Psalm, which I had learned in Sunday School, came to me: "He leadeth me beside the still waters. He restoreth my soul." Then there was a wonderful sense of peace, and I realized that since God is everywhere and fills all space. His love was right there upholding and sustaining me.
