Many times I have voiced my...
Many times I have voiced my gratitude for Christian Science at Wednesday evening testimony meetings, but I have not submitted a written expression of it to the periodicals. I should like now to express my thanks for all that this Science has done for me for almost forty years.
About thirty years ago, after a period of extreme tension and stress, I was healed of a complete nervous collapse. With the help of a consecrated Christian Science practitioner, and the loyal support of my wife and daughter, the crisis was passed within three days, and the healing was fully accomplished within a period of a few weeks. The habits of drinking alcoholic beverages and of smoking were also healed with the aid of a practitioner.
Some years ago I fell headlong from a four-foot high loading platform onto a concrete floor and injured my right arm.
Other than carrying my arm in a sling for comfort, I had no surgical attention. To meet insurance requirements, I had to go to the company's doctor for an examination. Upon viewing an X-ray photograph of my arm, he said I had a lateral fracture of the main bone of my forearm and elbow and that in his opinion I would never be able to straighten the arm again. I did not return to his office or communicate with him. Instead, during the several weeks following, I applied myself to the diligent study of the Lesson-Sermons, given in the Christian Science Quarterly. I did not lose a day from my work, and my arm was soon functioning normally.
Several years ago I began experiencing arthritic pains. From time to time, I treated myself as we are taught to do in Christian Science. However, the last attack was so severe that I asked a practitioner for help. After three days of prayerful work on her part, the healing was completed, and I have suffered no recurrence of the trouble.
A gangrenous infection was also healed with the aid of this practitioner, who gave me a clearer understanding of the real, spiritual man of God's creating and convinced me that this man constitutes my true selfhood. This healing was accomplished in two days.
For all these healings, I am grateful to God. I am also grateful to the practitioners who have helped me and for membership in The Mother Church and in a branch church, where I have had the privilege of serving as an usher and on various committees. —Edward F. Kryter, Sr., Indianapolis, Indiana.
