"As one having authority"

When Jesus had ended his great sermon, known as the Sermon on the Mount, "the people were astonished at his doctrine. For he taught them as one having authority, and not as the scribes" (Matt. 7:28, 29). His healing works were the result of his devotion to God and of his positive conviction that spiritual law transcends material beliefs.
