WORDS OF CURRENT INTEREST

I will make her that halted a remnant (Mic. 4:7)

The verb "halt" represents a Hebrew verb meaning "to limp," so that "her that halted" would be equivalent to "the lame." Isaiah, Jeremiah, and other Old Testament prophets join with Micah in emphasizing the teaching concerning the "remnant," to the effect that no matter what might happen to the majority of the people, "a remnant"—a stanch and righteous nucleus of the people—would be saved, protected, and comforted by the power of God. (Compare Mic. 2:12: Isa. 10:20-22; Jer. 15:11; et cetera.)
