"Hold thought steadfastly to the...

"Hold thought steadfastly to the enduring, the good, and the true, and you will bring these into your experience proportionably to their occupancy of your thoughts" (Science and Health, p. 261). This statement by Mrs. Eddy has been proved true to me a great number of times.

My first healing, over twenty years ago, was that of constipation. Kind friends advised me to visit a Christian Science practitioner, and I did. I shall never forget his kindness and his assurance that all was well. When I returned home I went to the medicine chest and threw away all the remedies that I had been using and depending on. To my great joy I found the very next day that I was free, and I have been free ever since.

One experience I should like to relate happened when I was cleaning my oven. I had used a very strong preparation made for that purpose. When I finished I hammered the cover back on the can, and as I did this the solution splashed up on my face and into one eye. For a moment I was very-fearful, and the pain was intense; but I was able to calm my thought sufficiently to telephone a practitioner for treatment, which was readily given. In a very short time the pain left entirely. This happened about noon. That evening I attended a Christian Science lecture, and apart from a slight redness in the eye there was no other evidence of the incident.
