Our Changing Customs and Habits
As human thought becomes more spiritual, customs and habits undergo a change for the better. The spiritual enlightenment that Christ Jesus brought to earth is gradually and progressively dispelling the mental darkness that mysticism and superstition, paganism and mythology, have cast upon human thought. It is becoming clearer all the time that spiritualization of thought is the antidote for this darkness and the delusions that constitute it. The enlightenment of divine Truth and Love proceeds rapidly or slowly in one's experience, depending upon one's readiness to submit to the conditions of spiritual progress.
The teachings and demonstrations of Christ Jesus provide the one and only way to divine Truth. The Master clearly stated this in his declaration to those who believed in him, "If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed; and ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free" (John 8:31, 32). It is evident that this freedom is freedom from error; from all that is untrue, deceptive, perverting in nature; from all, in fact, that has been associated with such terms as devil, Satan, evil.
