A joyful experience several years ago proved to me that the teachings of Christian Science are applicable to any problem in our human experience and are not restricted to the field of physical healing.

For a number of years I had been laboring under a sense of lack of advancement in business, both as regards salary and position. Finally it came to me to turn to God, divine Mind, for an understanding of spiritual being and right activity and to work out the solution through the teachings of Christian Science, not through mere human outlining. A practitioner was engaged to give me guidance and assistance in my efforts.

In my study of Mrs. Eddy's writings this passage in "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" proved very helpful (p. 269): "Metaphysics resolves things into thoughts, and exchanges the objects of sense for the ideas of Soul." How difficult it was, however, for me in my daily business experience to let go of the material goals, such as salary level, position in the organization, and other material evidences of the so-called good life, and to replace them in my consciousness with such qualities of Soul as joy, spontaneity, love, and harmony! But I saw that this was what I must do if my thinking was to be spiritualized and the angel thoughts of divine guidance were to be allowed to operate.
