Over thirty years ago my family were in an automobile accident, and my sister's back was broken in two places. The doctor who examined her said it was not worth setting the bones, because she would not live. But they set themselves, and in four months' time she was healed and able to swim and dive. This beautiful healing was the result of the application of Christian Science by a practitioner and by my sister. Through the years that have followed, my sister's healing has been like a beacon shining across my path.

One day the oven exploded in my face, and flames shot around me. I looked down and saw that my dress was on fire. I pulled it off over my head. The pain on my face and arm was intense. At once I started to declare, "God fills all space." My sister, who could see the burns on my face, was frightened. She called a Christian Science practitioner and asked for treatment, through prayer, for me while I kept on declaring spiritual truths of God and man.

In about three hours the pain had entirely gone. But I still did not look at my face, because I did not wish to have any material picture to contend with. In the morning when I looked in the mirror, I saw that my hair had been singed around my face and that my eyebrows were burned. There were still a few blemishes on my face, but in three or four days they disappeared, and my face was entirely healed.
