"Because sin is not there"

An ideal state of existence would be one in which there is no sin. In such a state there would be no harm, no fear, no ignorance, no war, no inequality, no oppression, no sickness, no death.

Most people would say that such an ideal state can be found only in heaven, certainly not on earth. Yet it was the Master's mission to bring the kingdom of God to men and in so doing to remove sin from the human consciousness. He said (Matt. 12: 28), "If I cast out devils by the Spirit of God, then the kingdom of God is come unto you."

"Heaven," writes Mrs. Eddy in Science and Health (p. 291), "is not a locality, but a divine state of Mind in which all the manifestations of Mind are harmonious and immortal, because sin is not there and man is found having no righteousness of his own, but in possession of 'the mind of the Lord,' as the Scripture says." As we overcome sin, we partake of heaven.
